About Us
UFP Technologies is the leading designer and manufacturer of molded pulp/molded fiber packaging solutions made from 100% recycled paper. Our cost effective and environmentally friendly solutions reduce labor and save space while providing superior protection at every stage of a product’s sales cycle.
UFP Technologies is the North American leader in 100% recycled paper protective packaging. The Company has the most manufacturing capacity when compared to any of our North American competitors.
Our molded fiber operations were founded in 1991 as Molded Fiber Technology (MFT) in Westbrook, Maine. The Company was the first molded pulp manufacturing organization to commercially develop what was traditionally known as the ‘egg carton process’ into custom industrial molded pulp packaging in North America. UFP Technologies’ molded fiber solutions have become the foremost cost-effective, durable and environmentally friendly packaging solution in the market.
UFP Technologies was an early stage equity investor in Molded Fiber Technologies. In 1993 UFP Technologies acquired the remaining outstanding shares of stock of Molded Fiber Technologies, and subsequently UFP Technologies went public. UFP Technologies expanded its molded fiber operations from its sole Maine location to factories in California and Iowa.
As the market matured in 2002, UFP Technologies consolidated its molded fiber operations to one centralized North American location in Clinton, Iowa which houses our product and tooling design, engineering services, and proprietary manufacturing lines all under one roof.
Today, we are experiencing an era where concern for environmental sustainability is at the forefront not only of many companies’ packaging decisions, but also of their overall definition of corporate success. Large corporations such as Wal-Mart, Target, and GE are leading the way by “pulling” their suppliers with them in a serious and sustained effort to do business in environmentally friendly ways. This focus on environmental sustainability translates into consistent manufacturing focused on reusable, 100% recycled packaging material.
